About Us
Eagle Nursery was established by Bob and Stacie Bleicher in 1998. An existing Christmas tree farm just south of Eagle already offered many nice conifers, and the property was well suited to growing trees with clay soils that hold root balls well. We are blessed with plentiful irrigation from four wells and every tree is served by a drip line for water-wise production.
We currently produce 80 acres of deciduous and coniferous trees with over 130 species of Nebraska-hardy, Nebraska-grown material. We also greenhouse over 100 species of shrubs, perennials and ornamental grasses. Visitors are always welcome to tour our facilities. We are very proud of the work we have done here.
Bob and Stacie have had a lifelong interest in plants and Bob grew up on a farm near Council Bluffs. After practicing medicine in Lincoln for twenty years Bob enrolled on the East Campus of the University of Nebraska and acquired valuable knowledge on greenhouse, nursery, and landscape design and management. He is currently a Certified Nebraska Nurseryman. With a background as Liaison for Quality at BryanLGH Health Care Systems, quality and customer service are number one concerns for this business. Stacie is the company bookkeeper and assists in all manner of farm operations.
A sampling of our nursery equipment includes 28”, 36”, 50”, and 80” tree spades, skid steers, turf-tolerant tractors, and all means of edgers, sod cutters, and other machines for efficient landscape completion. Drip irrigation, for water-efficient landscaping, is installed on most jobs. The nursery crew does snow removal in the winter, and we are equipped to perform all manner of landscape maintenance, weed control, mulching, and mowing. We also do hardscape work such as ponds, patios, and retaining walls.
We are blessed with a staff of professionals with years of experience and training. Our farm manager, Tom Scharfen, joined the operation in 2001. He brings more than 15 years of experience in landscape building and design and he operates our tree spades with great skill. We work regularly with landscape design students from UNL as well.
We strongly believe healing the world and bringing the joy of plants to all people is one of our primary goals in life. For this reason we enjoy donating design, labor, and materials to charitable organizations throughout the year.
Our philosophy is to cooperate with all our peers in helping them achieve similar goals.
